HRI understands that the cost of attending HR23 is prohibitive for some people. We work hard to raise funds for scholarships to make HR23 more accessible. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Harm Reduction International is pleased to offer assistance to a small number of delegates to attend HR23.
In order to support as many applicants as possible with the extremely limited scholarship funds available, most scholarships granted will cover only partial costs of attending the conference. We therefore encourage everyone seeking funding to look into other sources as well. Scholarships will only be granted to people whose abstracts are accepted. You can only submit a scholarship application as part of an abstract submission. Abstract submission will open in August 2022.
Please apply for a scholarship ONLY if you are unable to attend without support. Applying for a scholarship may reduce the chances of your abstract being selected, as funds to cover scholarships are limited. By submitting a scholarship application, you are signalling that you will not be able to attend to present your abstract without a scholarship; we will therefore reject your abstract if scholarship funds have been exhausted.
Scholarships are usually granted to people from low- and middle-income countries and are predominantly awarded to people who use drugs. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as those people living in under-served, rural communities will also be prioritised for HR23.
